Victorian Garden started in 1994 when my husband brought home several daylilies from a garden center. We had been told to visit Moldovan’s garden in Avon Lake, and after that visit were hooked on daylilies. Malcolm and I began hybridizing in 1995 and quickly acquired some of the best cultivars of all the “Big Guns” North and South.

Quickly our inventory included Moldovan, Woodhall, Hanson Benz, Kirchoff, Morss, Stamile, Salter, Petit, Carpenter, Carr and last but not least Larry Grace. More were added as we began visiting all those gardens on our summer vacations. We had to have them all

While my late husband honed in mostly on yellows, creamy whites, whites and pinks, my eye went more toward intricate eye-patterns, reds, purples and all the rest. To this day it’s

hard to say which are my favorites. Wisely, my husband loved working with conversions, and I soon followed suit. After lots of work, fun, set-backs and mistakes, the joy of hybridizing remains. Victorian Garden is here to stay, striving for hardiness, beauty, plant

habit and all around good cultivars. Malcolm Junior is as passionate as his father was, and has to date two introductions of great beauty on the marked. His biggest goal is to achieve full bloom on his 9- month seedlings. Also, breeding for hardiness, bud count, branching and color clarity. Knowing his diligence, he will most likely see his dreams come true.

We invite you to visit our display garden during bloom season, usually from the middle of June to the end of August. We have been asked many times if we sell our seedlings, and generally speaking we do not, although we have been known to satisfy a very persistent

addict. I am looking forward to see you in our garden, and would appreciate a quick call to let us know of your arrival so we can great you appropriately.

Bloom season is from the middle of June to the end of August.

We have been asked many times if we sell our seedlings, and generally speaking we do not, although we have been known to satisfy a very persistent addict.

I am a member of the American Hemerocallis society, and the Midwest Hybridizers Group.
